Anthony Ritchie -'Symphony No. 6'

SOUNZ Films proudly presents the public premiėre of Anthony Ritchie’s Symphony No.6, performed by the Simon Over-conducted Dunedin Symphony Orchestra at the Dunedin Town Hall on Saturday 23 September 2023. When Anthony began writing this work the worldwide crisis of the pandemic loomed large. But this was soon replaced by a more serious personal challenge: Anthony found himself seriously unwell and was hospitalised (he would make a full recovery). Consequently, the work evokes ideas around love, death, and our relationship to the environment, unfolding over four movements: Crisis, Meditation, Spirits and Grieving. The Symphony is dedicated to Anthony’s wife, Sandy.
