Nau mai, haere mai, and welcome to the DSO's 2025 concert season
DSO’s 2025 is packed with many musical treats that we’re excited to share with you. We’re thrilled to be joined on stage by Principal Guest Conductor James Judd, USA-based singer Paul Whelan, and Australian conductors Umberto Clerici and Benjamin Bayl and pianist Konstantin Shamray. We’re especially delighted to feature many top Kiwi musicians too: Anna Leese, Rebecca Ryan, Amalia Hall, Brent Stewart, Robert Orr, Jian Liu, Kawiti Waetford, and City Choir Dunedin.
Our programmes range from timeless classics such as Tchaikovsky’s Pathétique and Saint-Saëns’ Organ symphonies and Piazzolla’s quirky tango-infused Four Seasons of Buenos Aires, to new works by Gillian Whitehead and Nathaniel Otley as well as a concert of songs by the greatest pop divas.
From the growth in our audiences, outreach project participants, sponsors, funders, donors and volunteers, it’s clear that our orchestra is meeting a real need in our community. We are so grateful for everyone’s support which really does make a difference; we wouldn’t be here without you.
Kia manahau – we hope you enjoy the concerts!
