Vesa-Matti Leppänen, Violin soloist in 'Journeys'

Given that Mozart challenged the Baroque norms and pushed the boundaries of harmony towards a more open expression of emotions, performing a concerto by him is a fun challenge.

So, playing Mozart is a balance between honouring the classical style without forgetting the emotions and motives that inspired him to write the concerto.

His 5th Violin Concerto’s second movement is a masterclass in the classical era of composition. The overall mood is introspective, showcasing Mozart's ability to convey deep feelings through simplicity and elegance, and that is what I will be focusing on.

Mozart's music is a perfect blend of technical mastery and emotional depth, so his music appeals to both the heart and the intellect. Also, Mozart’s knack for creating memorable melodies has made his music beloved and perpetually relevant.
