Supporting the DSO: Introducing Duncan Connors, Development Manager

The Dunedin Symphony Orchestra is an important cultural institution. Dunedin was New Zealand’s ‘first city’ and we celebrate our strong cultural heritage and long contribution to music: Dunedin is a city of world renown and the DSO is core to our musical infrastructure in the South.

Music is very important to me. I am from North London and was very lucky to be a short bus ride from the Royal Opera House and the Royal Albert Hall. From a seminal production of Madam Butterfly via a production of Górecki’s Symphony No.3 Symphony of Sorrowful Songs and even taking my six year old son to Doctor Who at the Proms, I am blessed to have experienced such wonders.

My musical journey continues with the DSO.When I started my career, I quickly learned of the importance of sound finances and benefactors in supporting the arts, guaranteeing the ongoing success of our cultural bodies. The DSO is always grateful for the support of our donors, sponsors and grant funding. Private individuals who support us are deeply important in ensuring our ongoing success, as are those who purchase tickets and subscriptions to our concert series every year.

We will always need your support. This must grow as the orchestra evolves. There are many ways to help; opportunities are available to sponsor a named concert or even an individual musician. We have a range of corporate sponsorships. A relationship with a major cultural institution such as the DSO provides opportunities for coverage at our events, communications, and across news and social media in New Zealand and beyond.

Please do get in touch to discuss ways in which you can support the DSO. My email is development@dso.org.nz.We would love to hear from you.
Duncan.
