DSO performs to an estimated 20,000 people!

We were invited to perform with the disco-dance show by Synthony on stage in Hagley Park in Christchurch as part of an enormous music festival – the Electric Music Festival. This is an all-day festival held in late February, with four large stages in Hagley Park, and each stage has its own series of musical acts cleverly staggered so that the audience of 35,000 can move from one stage to the other and enjoy performances by some of New Zealand’s top contemporary artists.For just over an hour, DSO was on-stage in front of an audience of 20,000 accompanied by flashing lights and some smoke – certainly the largest-ever audience for the orchestra, and a very different start to the orchestra’s year.
